Simplifying technical guidelines
Technical guidelines are necessarily complex, but people will not adopt guidelines they can’t understand. We attempted to redesign the WCAG website to make it easier to understand for non-industry experts. We crafted personas, conducted competitive analysis with other sources of accessibility information, created revised sitemaps and wireframes and conducted first click, tree, and navigation stress testing in pursuit of a more approachable standard.
Making data banks more usable
When you build an internationally used, open access scientific resource, it gets complicated! We conducted user interviews with contextual inquiry, first click testing, pen and paper prototyping, and more to see how we could streamline and simplify the Protein Data Bank to make it useful to as many users as possible.
